Revolutionizing Maternal Healthcare
Our device allows bleeding patients without access to donor blood, trained staff, or restricted locations, to now receive THEIR OWN BLOOD.
Sterilization
BEVEL uses UV light to clean blood beyond what traditional autotransfusion machines can do. UV light works by destroying bacterial DNA. Essentially, red blood cells don’t contain DNA, leaving them undamaged.
Portability
We designed BEVEL to travel. We included handles and bed hooks so Bevel can go to home births, and in labor and delivery suites. With its 2 hour battery life we can continue to process in an ambulance while mom is being transported for care.
User Friendly
BEVEL does not take away from caring for mom. Bevel is fully automated and processes with just one push of a button. The disposable is pre-assembled and easy to install, which can be done prior to arriving for a birth.
How BEVEL Works
Bevel works by collecting blood from mom during postpartum hemorrhage. We can do this a couple different ways, V drapes, Bakri Balloons, or the Jada system. We mix the blood with an anticoagulant to prevent clotting. Concentrate the red blood cells them in a centrifuge. And wash out contaminates - like amniotic fluid. We then sterilize the blood by passing it over a germicidal UV light. This leads us to a finished unit of red blood cells.
It's the patient's own, it's clean, and it treats postpartum hemorrhage.
